As always the Beavers have had a thoroughly busy and fun packed year with a variety of activities. Our second Beaver colony celebrated its first birthday and is going from strength to strength. There has been no shortage of assistance with 4 full time uniformed leaders and 4 explorer scouts on the young leader scheme as well as many regular parent helpers.

Our programme over the year has been varied and focusing on the various badges and presentations have been made of all challenge awards. The Beavers have also been working on various activity badges. This year 18 Beavers achieved the bronze award of the Chief Scout Challenge. When Beavers leave to swim up to Cubs we always ask their favorite activity and without exception this is always the camps. We have several Beavers who currently have their 10 nights away badge which is a great achievement.
Our highlight of the year was winning our class of the under 12s singing games category at the Arbroath & District Music Festival 2017. The Beavers all did really well and enjoyed the opportunity to perform on a professional stage.
Beavers have enjoyed 4 camps under canvas this year. The Beavers attended the Barrwood Camp in May last year and enjoyed being in tents. The Beavers then camped at the Jock Neish Centre at Tannadice at the District Beaver Camp where we joined up with Arbroath and Montrose District. We then had an autumn camp back to the Barrwood. We attended the Group camp at Kirkcaldy in March 2017. Camping continues to be at the heart of Beaver activities and seeds are planted with the young people to enjoy the outdoors and look forward to activities in Cubs and Scouts.
