Our Cub Pack

There are three cub packs (A, B and C) in Carnoustie with almost 50 Cubs.

They meet on the following days:

  • Pack A meets on a Tuesday night between 6:45pm and 8pm
  • Pack B meets on a Sunday night between 6pm and 7:30pm
  • Pack C meets on a Thursday night between 6:30pm to 8pm

The new Sunday Cub pack (B) started on 8 January 2017 with 10 Cubs, which included two children new to Scouting. We started our pack with a mixture of excitement and nerves, but can thankfully say we have got a great bunch of Cubs and parents who have helped make it easier for us to get use to our roles.

In January we started working with our pack on the Scientist badge, which was great fun for all – balloon rockets, bean growing, density tower, spaghetti and mallow towers amongst other things.

Some of the Cubs also earned their Swimmers badge when we were invited to attend the joint pool party at Arbroath Leisure Centre with the cub packs from Tuesday and Thursday packs. Great fun was had by all playing on the giant inflatable as well. In February – we finished off working towards the Scientist Badge. We then started working on our road safety badge.

Basic first aid was also taught to the Cubs, part of which was role play about calling the emergency services – as they got more confident, some of the scenarios they were making up were amazing!! The Cubs that attended this camp only have a couple more things to complete to earn their badge which we’ll work towards finishing during future camps.

Cub Pack C has 28 Cubs with room for a couple more. This year they have been busy doing badge work and also a spot of camping, fishing and hiking. They have recently been working on the pioneer’s badge, trying to get the cubs to remember how to do a variety of knots and lashings. Earlier in the year they also too part in the annual JOTT with many other Cub groups from all over Angus and Dundee. There are further camps organised for later in the year.
