Carnoustie ‘A’ Cub AGM Report 2018/19

Date: 13th Jun 2019 Author: Scout Websites

Tuesday Cubs are a long standing cub pack in Carnoustie and in August 2018, the running of the pack was undertaken by Kim Keillor and Heather Keillor with administration support from Pamela Millar. Thanks to the support from the Thursday Cub Pack run by Keith and the Sunday Cub Pack run by Joyce. We have at times received ideas and feedback from the other two packs.

Since August our pack has seen some cubs move on to scouts with new cubs joining us from Beavers and from new. We are small and friendly group with our current numbers at 16 with room for more.

During the terms our pack have completed many different badges. These have included the home help badge, personal safety badge, crafts badge and astronomy badge. We have also enjoyed learning about different culture’s like Chinese New Year and learning new games such as double Dutch skipping (which was difficult for the adults!) In addition, the older cubs have been successfully working to complete their Chief Scout Challenge Silver Award. We are currently working on the science badge and the disability badge which involves learning Makaton and are working on a challenge badge.

We have had several camps that many of our cubs have attended which helped them to complete numerous badges. The most recent camp was also our closest and enjoyed by everyone who camped at Carnoustie Beach. The cubs have been given the chance to take part in various activities including archery and fishing. They are looking forward to our group camp at Barrwood where currently over 30 cubs are attending from the 3 different packs which will allow them to complete the outdoor badge.

In January we came together with the rest of the South Angus District to compete in the swimming gala at Arbroath pool. All our competitors were fantastic and swam their hearts out.

As part of our disability awareness badge we are learning Makaton for our cub promise, law and motto as well as learning a song which will be performed tonight. For this badge we have had the wonderful Anne Lochhead in to help the children to learn it all as well as Heather and I. Thank you Ann.

Many thanks to everyone in Carnoustie Scout Group for you unquestioned support throughout the year. Without each of you helping in various ways Tuesday Cub Pack would not continue to be as successful as it is.

Thank you
Kim Keillor, Tuesday Cub Scout Leader
Heather Keillor, Tuesday Cub Section Assistant
